This web site seeks to introduce you to our school, outline some of the many opportunities it offers and to demonstrate our aim to provide a quality education for every child.
Our students are remarkable young people. We want them to have energy and enthusiasm for all that life has to offer; to live as responsible citizens and to succeed academically in our rapidly changing society. We wish to develop their unique talents and aspirations, and give them our support, attention and guidance in every endeavour.
The purpose of The Billericay School is to offer students the opportunity to reach their full potential. We wish to ensure that all children at the school achieve the highest possible standards, whether it be in the classroom, or in the extensive range of opportunities we offer to students at all stages of their education.
We provide a secure, caring and disciplined environment where students can learn and teachers can teach.
By browsing through the pages of this website, I hope you will learn more about our achievements and philosophy.
This website has been developed in consultation with students, staff, governors, and our parents and is an ever changing entity! We would appreciate your comments and suggestions for the future.
The online magazine designed and edited by students for students. Please click on the logo to go direct to our own website. We have many articles which are constantly updated often on a daily basis so it really is a great way to see just qhat's going on at The Billericay School. You can find out what students say about events happening both in and outside school. We think you will be absolutely amazed at what we have to say on every kind of matter, but check it out then vote on the website to let us know exactly what you think.
Year 7 Students from this school made the news for real on 24 March 2011 when they took part in BBC News School Report. You may see their report by clicking on the BBC School Report logo. Not only did students research and write their own reports, but they subsequently presented them in the "newsrooms" which were parts of the Music, English and Media departments transformed in just one day! Some reports even included video footage of special interviews which students filmed themselves.
Have a look at the variety of our reports which include:
Fashion Industry
Red Nose Day and the Tsunami Fundraising activities
Kingswood Gifted and Talented Trip
Inspirational Women Conference
The Olympics in Essex
The Fire in Billericay High Street
Mr Ullmann's Charity Bike Expedition... which leads us to this...
Following his retirement Mr Ullmann will set off on an epic cycle ride to Vienna in aid of the Red Cross. Mr Ullmann, Head of Modern Languages is retiring at Easter and is cycling from London to Vienna in aid of the Red Cross and in memory of his brother, Frederick Ullmann who devoted over 40 years to the service of education. Our Mr Ullmann is cycling to raise money for the Red Cross which had a great significance for his family bringing news to his father of his own mother's safety when she was left behind in Austria in 1938. This meant so much to him in his hour of need and he was for ever grateful to the Red Cross, bearer of good news.
Mr Ullmann will set out from London at 12.00 noon on Monday April 11th and arrive in Vienna at 12.00 p.m. on Saturday April 30th. He will be travelling on a bike laden with luggage, tent and sleeping bag and weighing some 40 kilos. He will cover some 1400 miles at a daily rate of between 70 and 80 miles (115 - 130 kms.) - not a mean feat for a 60 year old!!!
You can read about his preparations by clicking on the green button on the right then follow his amazing journey as it unfolds day by day with his updates.
You can purchase our very own book written by Sylvia Kent, a well-known local author from the school RBLC. Sylvia wrote the book especially for The Billericay School and it includes photographs and reminiscences over the years which provide a fascinating insight to the local history of Billericay and the people who lived there (and still do!)
Please contact Mrs Clare in the RBLC by telephone or email the school office for a copy priced at £10. All profits will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital and The James Dorrington Fund. This would make a fantastic present, and a valued memento of time spent at the school.
